New European registration data shows BYD recorded the fastest market share growth of any brand in Europe in 2025, rising to 1.3% year-to-date — up 0.93 percentage points — according to figures from Jato Dynamics. The Chinese manufacturer registered an additional 102,000 vehicles compared with the same period last year.
Within the Volkswagen Group, Cupra continued its upward trajectory, reaching a 2.2% market share (+0.57pp), driven by new models including the Terramar and Tavascan. Škoda also posted strong growth, increasing its share to 6.3% following demand for the Elroq and latest Kodiaq. MG registrations climbed close to 250,000 units, overtaking brands such as Nissan and Fiat.

Battery electric vehicles remain a key growth driver, with BEV registrations up 33% year-on-year in October to 224,351 units, while plug-in hybrids rose 41%. However, internal combustion engine registrations fell 17%, underlining Europe’s ongoing — but uneven — transition as policymakers debate revised post-2035 emissions targets.
