BYD has extended the warranty on its Blade battery technology to eight years or 250,000km (155,000 miles), with the improved coverage applying to both new and existing vehicles.
Blade batteries sit at the core of all BYD fully electric and hybrid models. Until now, they were covered for six years or 150,000km (93,000 miles), alongside a 12 year unlimited mileage anti perforation warranty and eight years or 150,000km (93,000 miles) cover for the electric drive unit. The updated policy significantly increases the mileage limit for the Blade battery while retaining the eight year duration of cover.
The warranty extension follows BYD’s collaboration with Thatcham Research, which is focused on improving vehicle design to reduce damage and repair costs. The partnership aims to lower total cost of ownership across BYD’s growing UK model range, particularly by limiting the impact of low speed collisions.
