Denza D9 brings luxury MPV comfort to a hybrid people carrier

BYD is continuing its push into the UK with its premium Denza line-up, and the D9 MPV is set to follow the Z9 GT as a more practical, passenger-focused offering.

Priced at around £70,000-£75,000, the D9 targets high-end people carriers like the Lexus LM, but with a plug-in hybrid setup designed to suit real-world fleet use. A 1.5-litre petrol engine works alongside an electric motor and battery to deliver up to 130 miles of electric-only driving, with a combined range of nearly 600 miles – useful for drivers balancing urban trips with longer motorway journeys.

Inside, the focus is firmly on comfort. A 2-2-3 seating layout gives middle-row passengers airline-style captain’s chairs with heating, ventilation and massage functions, while there’s still space for luggage or work equipment in the back. For everyday use, that translates to a genuine seven-seater that can handle airport runs, client transport or family duties without compromise.

There’s also a strong tech angle – rear entertainment screens, in-car connectivity for video calls, and even a built-in fridge that can chill drinks or warm food on the move.
