The EV Network (EVN) has been appointed as the delivery and infrastructure partner for the new Duracell E-Charge network, marking the entry of one of the world’s most trusted battery brands into the UK’s ultra-rapid EV charging market.
Backed by more than £200 million in planned investment, the partnership combines Duracell’s heritage in reliability and energy storage with EVN’s proven track record in designing, funding, and delivering high-performance charging hubs nationwide.
A licence has been granted by Duracell to Elecktra Charge, which will operate the new Duracell E-Charge network. EVN will oversee the development and rollout of charging hubs across the country, with the first six sites expected to go live in 2025, followed by rapid expansion throughout 2026 and beyond.
The network will feature ultra-fast charging up to 1,000 kW, targeting industry-leading uptime and offering transparent pricing with multiple payment options — from in-app and contactless to plug-and-go. Sites will be strategically located at motorways, retail and hospitality destinations, and city gateways, and will include intuitive interfaces, clear navigation, and 24/7 support to enhance the user experience.
“Duracell has always been a trusted companion in people’s lives, delivering long-lasting performance, uncompromising safety, and a commitment to sustainability,” said Javier Hernandez Reta, Chief Marketing Officer at Duracell.
“Today, EV drivers can travel even further — confidently and sustainably — with Duracell E-Charge leading the way.”
Reza Shaybani, CEO of The EV Network, added:
“The need in the UK for faster, more reliable charging to keep pace with EV adoption is clear.
Duracell E-Charge is a direct response to that challenge. The EV Network has already delivered some of the UK’s biggest charging hubs, and now we’re bringing that expertise to one of the world’s most recognised brands.”
Mark Bloxham, Managing Director of Duracell E-Charge, summed up the vision:
“Duracell has been powering people’s lives for decades. Now, Duracell E-Charge will be powering their journeys.
Charging your car should be as simple as changing the batteries in your remote — convenient, reliable, and available wherever you need it. Plug. Play. Go.”
As the UK charging landscape matures, the arrival of another household name brings reassurance to drivers still weighing the move to electric. With its deep association with trust and longevity, Duracell’s move into public charging could help instil the same confidence in EV infrastructure that motorists once placed in fuel networks.
Will seeing such an iconic brand at public chargers help shift perceptions and accelerate EV adoption?
