EV Charging Network Growth (Zapmap Q3 2025)

  • 3928 new charge points installed in Q3, bringing the UK total to 86,021 devices across 43,507 locations – a 22% year-on-year increase.

  • Ultra-rapid chargers (150kW+) now number 9,290, up 51% year-on-year.

  • Regional growth: North West +38%, Yorkshire & Humber +33%, South East +26%, Wales +25%.

  • 31,593 on-street chargers, up 31% outside London; 22,871 in the capital.

  • First Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure fund live in Brighton & Hove; 52 projects approved.


Car Market (SMMT September 2025)

  • 312,891 new car registrations, making a 13.7% year on year increase. The best September since 2020.

  • Fleet sector up 16.9% to 174,336 units; business sales up 28.6%.

  • Electrified vehicles = 50.8% of all sales; BEVs up 29.1% to record 72,779 units (23.3% share).

  • PHEVs up 56.4% (12.2% share); HEVs up 15.3%.

  • Government’s Electric Car Grant credited with boosting private demand, especially for sub-£45k models.


Van Market (SMMT September 2025)

  • 47,418 new LCV registrations; 2.1% decrease year on year. Overall market share drops by 9.8% in the year to date.

  • Electric vans up 41.1% (4,262 units) in a record month, totalling an 8.9% market share.

  • In the year to date, EV van sales are up 55.9%, totalling 9.1% of all new registrations. This is still short of 16% ZEV mandate target.

  • Large van sales up 3.2% (69% of market); pickup sales up 7.8%; medium van sales up 25.1%.
