  • Mazda has introduced a new warranty programme for all newly registered models in its line-up. Covering six years or 100,000 miles, the warranty takes effect from 1 September 2025.

  • New car registrations dropped by 5% in July to 140,154 units, partly due to buyers delaying purchases while awaiting confirmation of models eligible for the electric car grant (SMMT).

  • EDF has acquired London-based EV charge point operator Pod in a deal worth approximately £10.6 million.

  • The UK financial regulator has confirmed that victims of car finance mis-selling are likely to receive a maximum of £950 in compensation, with total costs for the sector estimated at £18 billion.

  • Drink-drive fatalities have decreased by 14% year-on-year, with 260 estimated deaths. DfT figures also show 1,860 people were killed or seriously injured – a 3% fall from 2022.

  • Volkswagen Group has launched a £1500 retail grant for select Cupra, Skoda and VW EV models. The ‘Grant Guarantee’ applies to the Cupra Born, Skoda Enyaq and Elroq, and Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4.

  • 41% of motorists say they would be more likely to buy an EV if a clean vehicle tax reduced congestion charges, while 35% of younger drivers (aged 18–34) are willing to pay the charge for EVs. Only 6% of those aged 55+ feel the same (Venson).

  • A recent EVA England survey shows that 51% of disabled drivers struggle with ultra-rapid (350kW) charging cables, compared to 21% of non-disabled drivers.

  • The average price of a used electric van has fallen 28.1% over two years, dropping by £6875 to £17,560 between June 2023 and June 2025 (Marketcheck). Experts believe the market has now stabilised.
