Ford creates Explorer Van, targeted at fleet demand

Ford has introduced a commercial version of the Ford Explorer, converting it into an N1-class van in response to direct feedback from fleet operators.

Set to debut at the CV Show 2026, the Explorer Van is aimed at businesses that need the usability of a van without sacrificing electric range. It offers up to 374 miles on a single charge, alongside a payload of up to 650kg – enough for tools, equipment or smaller delivery loads.

The conversion has been handled by Ford Pro’s Special Vehicles team, with a focus on keeping things practical. A full bulkhead separates the cabin from the load area without interfering with safety systems, while a flat load floor, adjustable dividers and lashing points make it easier to manage smaller items that would otherwise move around in transit.

From a driving perspective, it still behaves more like a car than a traditional van, which could appeal to drivers covering longer distances or moving between sites. Rear- and all-wheel-drive options are available, with up to 340PS, and rapid charging at up to 135kW delivers a 10-80% top-up in around 25 minutes.
