Geely EX5 Ultra adds range – but does it change the fleet equation?

Geely has expanded its EX5 line-up with a new Ultra model, bringing a modest range increase and a slight repositioning for fleet buyers.

The Ultra uses a larger 68kWh battery, delivering up to 280 miles (WLTP) – around 13 miles more than the standard EX5. Priced at £38,990, it remains competitive against key rivals in the mid-size electric SUV segment.

For drivers, it’s an easy car to live with. The elevated driving position, quiet electric powertrain and high level of standard equipment make it well suited to daily commuting and longer trips. Cabin space is practical, and features like heated seats, a large infotainment screen and driver assistance tech help support day-to-day usability.

For fleets, the key consideration is value. The additional range is useful, but not transformational – so the decision comes down to whether the higher upfront cost delivers enough benefit in real-world use.

Where the Ultra does strengthen its case is versatility. A new 750kg towing capacity and high specification broaden its appeal across different duty cycles.
