Vp Brandon Hire Station, a major UK tool and equipment hire company, has cut accident-related costs by 40%, saving £192,000 a year, after introducing AI-powered technology from Samsara. The business operates a 500-vehicle fleet across 125 locations and had been struggling to scale safety measures due to limited visibility and inconsistent operations.
Since adopting Samsara’s Connected Operations Platform, the company now uses real-time fleet data, including AI dash cams and GPS tracking, to monitor driver behaviour. This enables proactive coaching, structured reporting and more accurate safety interventions.
Since implementation, the company has achieved:
• £192,000 annual saving in accident costs — a 40% year-on-year reduction
• 93% drop in mobile phone use while driving
• 88% reduction in speeding incidents
• 63% decrease in harsh driving events
• 10-point rise in the average driver safety score (from 83 to 93) in eight months
• 92 drivers now scoring a perfect 100, with 404 scoring 95 or higher

Our month-end reports include health, safety, environment, quality, audit and road risk data, largely driven by Samsara's safety scores. It's not just a management tool, but a set of KPIs for the entire business.
The business has implemented Samsara data into daily operations, using safety scores to monitor performance and raise standards across the fleet.
"Samsara highlights inefficiencies, priorities, and areas of focus," Draper added. “It's transformed our approach to safety. When you have trusted data, you can make better decisions.”
