How digital vehicle handover is reducing risk and disputes for fleet customers

Fleet vehicle handover remains one of the most operationally sensitive moments in the vehicle lifecycle, with condition disputes, paperwork errors and delayed confirmations creating risk for fleets, leasing companies and dealers alike. A case study from vehicle logistics provider CRC Transport shows how digitising this process can deliver measurable gains.

Surrey-based CRC Transport, which delivers around 150–250 vehicles per month to fleet and retail customers on behalf of dealer groups including Lookers plc and Sytner Group, has replaced its paper-based delivery system with moDel, an electronic vehicle collection and delivery platform from Ebbon Automotive.

Since making the switch, CRC reports a 20% increase in business, driven in part by improved confidence from fleet and leasing customers. All vehicle appraisals are now completed digitally at both point of collection (POC) and point of delivery (POD), with photographic condition evidence automatically uploaded to back-office systems. This provides fleets with instant confirmation of delivery and a clear audit trail should damage disputes arise later.

CRC also reports fewer errors, faster confirmations and improved driver productivity, with delivery jobs assigned directly to drivers’ devices in real time.
