The INEOS Grenadier and Quartermaster have been approved for UK blue-light fleet use after completing the Metropolitan Police testing programme.
The approval gives police and other emergency services another option for roles involving difficult terrain, severe weather, towing and remote access.
However, fleet managers will still need to assess payload, conversion requirements, running costs, driver training and maintenance support against established alternatives.
The Station Wagon offers enclosed space for personnel and equipment, while the Quartermaster provides a separate load area for more specialist duties.
Passing the Met Police programme provides reassurance over capability, but procurement decisions should still be based on a clearly defined operational need rather than off-road performance alone.
