Iveco unveils wireless-charging van capable of powering-up while driving

Iveco Group has revealed a road-ready version of its Iveco eDaily equipped with wireless charging, marking a significant step forward in EV infrastructure for commercial vehicles.

The demonstrator van integrates dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) technology, allowing it to charge both while parked and while driving over specially equipped road surfaces. The system works with inductive coils embedded beneath the road, transferring electricity directly to the vehicle without a cable connection.

The eDaily will be deployed on Italy’s A35 Brebemi motorway, where infrastructure operator A35 Brebemi has developed a wireless charging test corridor linking Brescia and Milan.

Iveco says early trials at the Arena del Futuro testing facility have already demonstrated the technology’s potential for daily commercial use.

Norberto Codegone, head of LCV product management at Iveco, said testing on live roads shows “how dynamic charging can effectively support daily operational needs, ensuring safety, performance, and service continuity for drivers and operators.”

Trials of inductive EV charging are also under way globally, including pilot projects in France, the United States and the UK, as manufacturers explore new ways to support large-scale electrification of commercial transport. Read more about them here.
