Jaga Brothers, a Newport-based haulier operating 42 trucks and 130 trailers, has delivered significant cost savings after rolling out MICHELIN Connected Fleet across its operation.
Over a six-month period, analysis of vehicle data helped the business reduce fuel use and downtime across its fleet. Jaga Brothers reports £35,000 saved on fuel, driven in part by a 0.6mpg improvement per vehicle, alongside £5,600 saved on tyre replacement costs. A further £9,000 in brake repair savings is projected as additional technology is adopted.
Improved visibility of driving behaviour played a key role. By reducing harsh braking and acceleration events, the business increased efficiency while also lowering wear on key components. On the trailer side, tyre pressure and temperature monitoring reduced rapid deflations by 66%, cutting unplanned stoppages and associated costs.
James Hill, Managing Director, said: “The MICHELIN Connected Fleet solutions have had a huge financial impact on our business. Our aim was for the service to start paying for itself in the first year and the figures so far have exceeded our expectations.”
For a time-critical construction materials operation, the combination of fuel savings, reduced breakdowns and better data-led decisions has turned fleet management into a clear competitive advantage.
