Kia EV2 is the brand's most affordable SUV yet

Kia has confirmed pricing and key details for its new EV2 – a compact electric SUV positioned as an electric alternative to its petrol-powered Kia Stonic.

Starting at £27,995 (OTR), it becomes the most affordable model in Kia’s EV range, sitting below larger SUVs like the Kia EV6 and Kia EV9.

Two battery options are available. A 61kWh version delivers up to 281 miles of range, while a smaller 42.2kWh battery offers up to 190 miles. Both support rapid charging, reaching 10-80% in around 30 minutes.

In practical terms, it’s aimed at urban and regional use. The five-seat layout and 362-litre boot make it suitable for lighter-duty fleet roles, with standard equipment including heated seats, adaptive cruise control and a full suite of driver assistance systems.

It carries a slightly boxy, upright design that echoes models like the Fiat Panda, but with a more modern, SUV-led feel. Three trims are offered – Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S – with higher specs adding features such as upgraded audio, ventilated seats and a power tailgate.

While still above entry-level petrol SUVs like the Stonic, the EV2 brings Kia closer to price parity in the small EV segment, sitting alongside models such as the Renault 5 and Citroën ë-C3. That places it directly in the part of the market where affordability is starting to open up EV adoption, particularly for urban and lower-mileage use cases.
