Lightfoot cuts dangerous driving by 80% and improves MPG by 12.2%

Construction materials supplier Breedon has reported major improvements in fleet safety, fuel efficiency and emissions after rolling out Lightfoot’s in-cab driver coaching technology across its 380-van fleet.

Initially trialled within the business, the system delivered a 12.2% increase in MPG, alongside a 10.9% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 24% drop in idling time. Breedon also recorded an 80% reduction in dangerous driving incidents, including 63% less harsh acceleration, 28% fewer sharp braking events and a 19% reduction in speeding through corners.

Rather than relying on traditional telematics reporting after the event, Lightfoot’s system provides drivers with real-time audible and visual coaching prompts in the cab, helping encourage smoother and safer driving behaviour as it happens.

Breedon says the technology has also improved driver engagement through Lightfoot’s driver league tables and reward-based approach.
