MG GO! concept previews compact electric hatchback

MG has revealed the GO! concept, previewing a compact electric hatchback scheduled to enter production in 2027.

The new model made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and is expected to compete in the growing B-segment electric-car market.

Potential rivals include the Renault 5 E-Tech, Citroën ë-C3, Hyundai Inster and BYD Dolphin Surf.

MG has not yet confirmed the production car’s battery capacity, driving range, charging speed or price.

However, the manufacturer says the GO! is more than a design exercise and directly previews a new showroom model.

Designed by the MG Design Centre in London, the concept uses styling influenced by models including the MGB GT, MG Metro Turbo and MG ZR.

Its compact dimensions could make the finished car suitable for urban fleets, pool-car duties and drivers who prioritise easy parking and low operating costs.

Pricing will be central to its fleet potential. MG has built a strong value proposition with models such as the MG4 EV, but competition in the affordable electric-car market is increasing.

The production model will need a competitive monthly rental, practical real-world range and suitable charging performance to stand out.

Further specifications are expected before its planned 2027 launch.
