OMODA E5 tops Octopus EV leasing rankings

The OMODA E5 was the most popular electric car leased through Octopus Electric Vehicles during the second quarter of 2025, with a list price of £33,065.

It ranked ahead of the CUPRA Born, Tesla Model Y, Ford Puma Gen-E and Škoda Elroq between April and June.

For fleet managers, the result highlights growing demand for well-equipped, lower-cost EVs from newer manufacturers. Brand familiarity appears to be becoming less important as drivers focus more heavily on monthly cost, specification and practicality.

Octopus EV has also introduced a salary sacrifice option covering public charging through its Electroverse network.

Drivers can estimate their annual charging needs and spread the cost across 12 monthly deductions from gross salary. Octopus says this could reduce public charging costs by up to 40%.

The scheme could help employers provide drivers without reliable home charging with a more predictable and tax-efficient way to cover EV energy costs.
