Richfords cuts collision risk by 22% through driver-led safety programme

Richfords Fire & Flood has reduced its predicted fleet collision risk by 22% after introducing a driver engagement programme that combines telematics with behavioural science to encourage safer driving.

The company, which operates a fleet of 53 light commercial vehicles, wanted to move beyond traditional manager-led coaching by giving drivers near real-time feedback on their own performance. Following a two-month pilot with 20 drivers, the results prompted a wider rollout across the fleet.

Rather than relying on retrospective reviews, drivers received immediate visibility of their safety scores through the Geotab Vitality app, earning rewards and climbing leaderboards as their performance improved.
