Tesla Model Y and Model 3 set the safety benchmark in Euro NCAP’s 2025 Best in Class results

Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 have emerged as two of the safest cars tested by Euro NCAP in 2025, reinforcing the brand’s position at the forefront of vehicle safety as electrification accelerates across the market.

The Tesla Model Y was named Best in Class Small SUV after excelling in Child Occupant protection and Safety Assist, while the Tesla Model 3 secured Best in Class Large Family Car honours. Both vehicles achieved strong results across all four Euro NCAP assessment areas covering Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road User and Safety Assist, and met the requirement of standard fit safety equipment and a five star rating.

Euro NCAP said 2025 was its busiest year on record, reflecting the rapid expansion of electric models and the growing sophistication of driver assistance systems. Dr Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General of Euro NCAP, said the close competition showed how global manufacturers are continuing to raise safety standards, adding that the awards help drivers identify the safest vehicles for their needs.

Other Best in Class winners included the Mercedes Benz CLA as overall Best Performer, the MINI Cooper E, smart 5 and Polestar 3, highlighting how safety performance is now being delivered consistently across multiple segments.
