Tesla has introduced the Model Y Standard to the UK, lowering the SUV’s entry point by £3000 compared with the previous base model. The new variant starts at £41,990, or £299 per month on a 36-month lease with a £3588 deposit, positioning it closer to rivals such as the Skoda Enyaq (£39,010).
To achieve the lower price, Tesla has pared back equipment: front and rear light bars are replaced with a simpler split-light arrangement, the panoramic roof has been removed, and frequency-selective dampers are swapped for passive units. Inside, cloth upholstery replaces faux leather and the centre console is smaller. The Standard also loses the rear passenger touchscreen, premium air-filtration ‘Bioweapon Defence Mode’, and electric steering column adjustment. Access is via the Tesla smartphone app, with no physical key supplied.

Despite the simplifications, the Standard offers 314 miles of range — three more than the previous Rear-Wheel Drive model thanks to reduced weight. That variant has now been dropped, with the next step up being the Long Range RWD (£48,990, 387 miles). UK deliveries of the Model Y Standard begin February 2026.
Tesla expects to follow with a Model 3 Standard, though timing is yet to be confirmed.
