Used EVs outperforming petrol and diesel cars at auction

Used electric vehicles (EVs) are outperforming petrol and diesel cars at auction, with BCA Valuations reporting record demand in August. EVs currently show the highest first-time conversion and strongest CAP performance of any fuel type, despite concerns over values following the July launch of the electric car grant.
Only 22 models from eight brands qualified, yet trading data shows demand has risen, with live pricing on three-year/60,000-mile EVs increasing.

BCA COO Stuart Pearson said over 1000 EVs are sold weekly, noting strong consumer acceptance and profit opportunities for traders. BCA sold more than 5000 EVs in July alone. The company also offers detailed battery-health grading and upgraded EV condition reports to support confidence.
Overall used car values averaged £7677 in July, remaining stable, with demand strongest for three-to-five-year-old vehicles with clean histories. Pearson said volumes and pricing rose unusually during the summer holiday period.
