Volkswagen ID Polo brings electric power to a fleet staple with sub €25,000 target

Volkswagen has unveiled the new ID Polo, bringing one of the UK’s most familiar fleet cars into the electric market with a starting price of under €25,000 in Germany.

While UK pricing and specifications are still to be confirmed, the positioning is clear. This is intended to sit at the more accessible end of the EV market, with a potential starting price equivalent to around £21,000 before any local adjustments.

Two battery options will be offered. Entry models use a 37kWh battery with up to 206 miles of range, while higher specification versions move to a 52kWh battery delivering up to 282 miles. Charging from 10% to 80% takes around 23 to 24 minutes depending on the battery.

For drivers, the format remains familiar. It retains the proportions and usability of a traditional Polo, but with increased practicality. Boot space grows to 441 litres, which is around 25% more than the current petrol model, helping it better handle everyday use.

Inside, a 10 inch digital cockpit and 13 inch touchscreen form the core of the cabin, alongside a range of driver assistance systems and features such as one pedal driving and vehicle to load functionality.

For fleets, this is a key development, but not an immediate one. UK details are still to follow, and those will determine where it sits on cost and specification.
