Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a new telematics platform designed to help fleets spot maintenance issues earlier and keep vans on the road for longer.
Called Connect Pro, the system gives operators real-time access to vehicle location, route history, fuel use, battery charge levels and warning messages. It also shows servicing requirements and allows online workshop booking with a preferred service partner.
For fleet managers, the practical benefit is earlier visibility when vehicles need attention. That could help reduce unexpected downtime, avoid missed maintenance and cut the disruption caused by unscheduled dealer visits.
The platform also supports over-the-air software updates, which can reduce the need for physical appointments, while EV-specific charge monitoring adds another layer of oversight for electric van fleets. It's available to connect with all VW vehicles from 2021.
As servicing delays and vehicle availability remain ongoing pressures for operators, tools that improve maintenance planning could make a noticeable difference to productivity.
