Ayvens modernises Home Fix Scotland's vans and slashes cost-per-vehicle

Home Fix Scotland (HFS) has completed a major light commercial vehicle renewal programme, working with Ayvens to modernise its fleet while laying the groundwork for electrification.

The West of Scotland-based building and maintenance firm operates 78 vans and has set a target to transition 20–25% of the fleet to hybrid or fully electric models within five years. Following a full fleet review and electric van appraisal, Ayvens developed a new multi-trade van specification designed around HFS’s operational needs.

The upgraded vans combine improved fuel efficiency, hybrid systems, enhanced racking and storage, upgraded navigation technology and a refreshed livery. The rebrand was delivered in collaboration with HFS’s internal team and livery partner Pulse.

Based on average annual mileage of 15,000 miles, each new van is expected to save around £500 a year in fuel, while also reducing emissions and improving usability for frontline engineers.

Derek Ferguson, managing director at Home Fix Scotland, said the investment supports both immediate service delivery and longer-term sustainability goals. Ayvens’s Terry Appleyard added that the project shows how data-led fleet assessment and practical vehicle design can support a confident transition towards lower-emission vans without disrupting day-to-day operations.
