The BVRLA has urged government to prioritise “destination charging” as part of its Bon VoyCharge campaign, warning that black spots risk undermining EV adoption across key travel sectors.
Launched at the association’s annual Parliamentary Reception, the campaign highlights gaps in infrastructure at UK airports, hotels and leisure sites. The BVRLA is calling for a national airport electrification strategy, targeted grants for small accommodation providers, and business rate relief for chargepoint installers. It also wants an EV rental voucher scheme to drive utilisation.
The initiative is backed by Autotrader, Charge UK, EVA England, UK Hospitality, UK Inbound and Zapmap, alongside rental firms Arnold Clark, Drivalia, Europcar and Hertz. The BVRLA argues that destination charging is essential to support tourism, business travel and the rental market, where demand for reliable charging is growing.
The campaign has already engaged MPs at Westminster and Holyrood, with further activity planned during the party conference season. Read the Bon VoyCharge policy document here.
