Callum Haymon-Collins, FleetCheck: AI starts with clean data

Artificial intelligence may be dominating fleet industry conversations, but Callum Haymon-Collins believes many operators are overlooking a more fundamental challenge.

Speaking to 100 Trusted Brands in Fleet, the FleetCheck Chief Operating Officer said most fleets do not lack data. Instead, they struggle to manage the growing volume of information spread across multiple systems and platforms. He explains:

"Most fleets we talk to don't lack data. If anything, the opposite is true. Most fleets have too much data, but not enough time to look at it properly."

While FleetCheck sees significant opportunities for AI to improve reporting, trend analysis and decision-making, Haymon-Collins warned that technology is only as effective as the information feeding it. Clean, centralised and accurate operational data remains the essential foundation.

He also stressed the continued importance of human oversight. Fleet managers still need to provide context, challenge assumptions and apply operational judgement when interpreting results.

For fleets exploring AI tools, his advice is straightforward: focus on building strong data foundations first. The organisations best positioned to benefit from emerging technologies are often those that have already spent years centralising and improving the quality of their fleet data.
