BMW exceeds two-million electric vehicle sales

The BMW Group - including Mini and Rolls Royce - has exceeded two-million electric vehicle sales worldwide, marking a significant milestone since it began production of the original i3 in 2013.

The two-millionth car to roll off the production line was an i5 M60 xDrive, which was sold to a customer based in Spain.

It comes as the BMW Group reports a battery electric vehicle (BEV) share in Europe of 28% in the first half of 2026. In the second quarter alone, the brand saw a 38% increase in BEV sales to over 81,000 units across the European market. This is thanks to the popularity of the BMW iX3 - the first car launched under the brand's 'Neue Klasse' series.

BMW expects growth to continue as the new i3 saloon enters production in Q3. The brand has already seen strong demand for the model since its unveiling.

For fleets, this enforces BMW Group products as a centerpiece of desirability, technological innovation, capability, and trust in the EV sector - the latter being hugely favoured by company car drivers. Brand trust is a key factor for fleet buying decisions and BMW's milestone backs it up massively.
