Manchester-based recycling and haulage operator J O’Shea & Sons has streamlined its fleet operations after replacing paper-based processes and disconnected systems with a single integrated platform.
Operating a mixed fleet of 20 vehicles, including tippers, artics and grabs, the business previously relied on manual defect sheets, multiple logins for compliance tools, and time-intensive processes to manage FORS and CLOCS requirements. This left Transport Manager Kieran O’Shea dealing with fragmented data, duplicated admin and an inbox full of alerts.
“Before FleetCheck, life was looking at a cupboard full of folders and mountains of paperwork,” says O’Shea. “Our daily defect sheets would come back covered in grease, and I was constantly going back and forward between the office and the garage.”
By implementing FleetCheck across driver checks, workshop processes, licence verification and tachograph analysis, the company has created a single source of fleet data. Driver defect reports are now submitted digitally and received within minutes, while workshop updates are logged in real time, removing delays between reporting and rectification.
The result is a saving of around four hours per week across the transport and workshop teams, alongside faster audit preparation and improved compliance visibility. FORS and CLOCS audits, previously manual and time-consuming, can now be completed in minutes.
For J O’Shea & Sons, the shift has delivered both operational efficiency and greater confidence in demonstrating compliance to regulators such as the DVSA.
