MG takes on big family SUVs with 7-seater offering 62 miles of electric driving

MG has entered the seven-seat SUV market for the first time with the new MGS9 PHEV, offering a practical, family-sized option with plug-in hybrid efficiency at a relatively accessible price point.

Starting from £34,205, the MGS9 undercuts many rivals in the large SUV segment while still delivering the flexibility fleets and drivers expect. Three rows of seating come as standard, with more than 1,000 litres of boot space available when the rear seats are folded down.

The plug-in hybrid system pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 24.7kWh battery, delivering up to 62 miles of electric-only driving. For many users, that’s enough to cover daily mileage without using fuel, while still offering the reassurance of a petrol engine for longer trips.

Inside, the focus is on comfort and usability, with features like heated and ventilated seats, tri-zone climate control and a panoramic roof.

For fleets, the appeal is straightforward – a large, versatile SUV with seven seats, strong electric range and competitive pricing in a segment that’s often significantly more expensive.
