Engineering and infrastructure specialist NG Bailey has reported significant improvements in driver safety, fuel efficiency and fleet performance after introducing a connected fleet management programme across its fleet of more than 600 light commercial vehicles.
Working with Webfleet, a FleetWise Trusted Brand, and fleet management partner Zenith, the business used telematics, AI-powered safety cameras and driver coaching to improve operational performance while supporting its long-term sustainability strategy.
The pilot programme delivered measurable improvements across several key fleet metrics:
- 25% reduction in harsh driving events
- 26% fewer speeding incidents
- 35% reduction in camera-triggered safety events
- 25% reduction in wasted fuel
- 3% improvement in fuel economy
- 5% reduction in vehicle idling
Beyond driver behaviour, the platform is helping NG Bailey automate vehicle inspections, identify maintenance issues earlier and improve vehicle availability through proactive servicing.
The company is also using real-world utilisation and journey data to identify where electric vans can be introduced, ensuring future vehicle replacement decisions are based on operational requirements rather than assumptions.
By combining telematics, AI safety systems and predictive maintenance, operators can improve safety, reduce fuel costs, increase vehicle uptime and make better-informed decisions as they plan the transition to lower-emission fleets.
