Nissan extends EV warranty to give used buyers extra confidence

Nissan has introduced a new service-activated warranty for its electric vehicle range, offering fleet operators and used car buyers greater reassurance over long-term ownership.

Available on the Micra, Leaf and Ariya, the scheme extends the manufacturer's standard three-year warranty by 12 months after every eligible Nissan service, up to a maximum of six years or 100,000 miles. The programme launched on 1 July and will apply to all future Nissan electric passenger cars.

For fleets, the move could help strengthen residual values by giving second and third owners continued manufacturer-backed cover, provided the vehicle has been serviced within Nissan's dealer network.

The new warranty sits alongside Nissan's existing eight-year lithium-ion battery warranty, offering additional peace of mind as more electric vehicles enter the used market. It also reflects a wider trend among manufacturers to use extended warranty programmes to support confidence in EV ownership and improve long-term vehicle values.
