Nissan gives X-Trail a tech upgrade with smarter cabin and improved driver visibility

Nissan has refreshed the X-Trail for 2026, focusing on better in-car tech, improved comfort and a more confident driving experience for everyday use.

The biggest change is inside. The new system brings Google built-in, meaning drivers can use voice commands, navigation and apps without relying on their phone. It’s a small shift, but one that makes day-to-day driving feel simpler and more intuitive.

There’s also a new 3D camera system that gives a full view around the car. That’s particularly useful for tight parking, urban driving or accessing awkward sites where visibility can be limited.

Under the bonnet, X-Trail continues with Nissan’s e-POWER hybrid. It drives like an electric car but doesn’t need plugging in, which keeps things straightforward for fleets not ready to move to full EV.

Practicality remains a strong point, with flexible rear seating, plenty of cabin space and trim options designed to cope with busy, mixed-use driving.

Available now from £38,220, the updated X-Trail sits right in the heart of the large SUV market. That puts it up against models like the Skoda Kodiaq, Kia Sorento and Peugeot 5008, all offering similar space and family-focused practicality. In that context, X-Trail tends to come in slightly cheaper than some rivals, with alternatives like the 5008 and Sorento often pushing closer to £40,000 or beyond depending on spec.
