Nissan Micra EV secures full £3,750 grant

The new Nissan Micra has secured the UK’s full £3,750 Electric Car Grant on its long-range version, helping reduce the starting price to £23,245 ahead of first UK deliveries later this month.

Two battery options are available. The 40kWh version qualifies for a £1,500 grant, bringing its price down to £21,495, while the 53kWh model receives the full £3,750 incentive.

The Micra sits in the popular electric supermini segment, where rivals include the closely related Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, the Citroën ë-C3 and the Mini Cooper Electric, many of which start between £21,000 and £30,000 depending on battery size.

Only a small number of EVs currently qualify for the top-tier £3,750 grant, including the Nissan Leaf, Ford Puma Gen-E and Citroën ë-C5 Aircross Long Range.

To qualify, cars must cost £37,000 or less, offer at least 100 miles of range, and meet strict sustainability and warranty standards.

For buyers, the grant helps bring electric superminis closer to typical petrol hatchback prices, making the switch to EVs more accessible.
