Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid Added to £1,500 Electric Car Grant List

Toyota’s plug-in hybrid C-HR has been confirmed as eligible for the Government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant (ECG), lowering purchase costs for fleets and private buyers at the point of sale. With the grant applied, the C-HR+ is available from £32,995. Models with the larger battery start at £35,495.

The Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid meets the revised grant criteria around emissions and electric-only capability, joining a relatively short list of qualifying models. Alongside the C-HR, eligibility currently extends to selected vehicles from brands including MG, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Jeep, Citroën and Fiat, with models such as the MG4, Peugeot e-208, Vauxhall Corsa Electric and Jeep Avenger Electric also qualifying under the scheme.

For fleet operators, the C-HR Plug-in Hybrid offers a pragmatic middle ground. It pairs a usable electric-only range for urban or short-distance driving with petrol backup for longer journeys, helping reduce emissions exposure without full reliance on charging infrastructure.

The limited number of eligible models underlines how tightly the ECG has been drawn, increasing the importance of grant-qualified vehicles for cost-conscious fleets looking to electrify while managing driver flexibility and total cost of ownership.

According to the latest 360 Media Group Brand Tracker, Toyota remains one of the best-positioned manufacturers to help fleets meet carbon reduction and net-zero targets by 2030 — and the arrival of the C-HR+ strengthens that status by expanding the brand’s all-electric offering alongside hybrid and plug-in options.
