Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has upgraded its electric van line-up, extending the driving range of the e-Transporter and e-Caravelle by 13% to a claimed 236 miles, while also improving charging speeds and adding an all-wheel drive option.
The update increases usable battery capacity from 64kWh to around 70kWh, giving fleets more flexibility on longer routes and multi-shift use. DC rapid charging has also been enhanced, with a 10-80% charge now taking around 30 minutes on a 125kW charger, roughly 10 minutes quicker than before. A 10-minute top-up can add around 62 miles of range.

From early 2026, the e-Transporter will also be offered with Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system. This pairs the existing rear motor with a second motor on the front axle, improving traction on wet roads, rough ground and construction sites. Three power outputs will be available: 100kW, 160kW and 210kW.
Volkswagen confirmed a 0.7% UK price increase linked to the battery and specification changes, with updated pricing due on January 15.
