Volkswagen has announced two new family, five-door EVs in Tourer estate and fastback saloon flavours… and both come with impressive stats.
For the executive who enjoys progressive driving, both GTXs feature dual motors, which boost their power output and deliver 4 MOTION four-wheel drive. With 340PS (335bhp – the same as BMW’s legendary ICE B58 straight-six turbo engine) under your right foot, these ID.7s accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds (5.6 seconds for the Tourer). That’s sports car performance in a large and luxurious family people-shifter.
Such shenanigans will deplete the battery faster than more ‘temperate’ driving, but with the potential for 200kW recharging, these VWs can be ‘refuelled’ to 80% in around 26 minutes.
Both ID.7s are lovely places to be, and passengers will enjoy the GTXs ventilated and heated massage seats in the front and heated rear seats, along with its Harman Kardon sound system.
Other standard features include IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights with illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear, an augmented-reality head-up display, GTX-specific interior styling and Volkswagen’s IDA voice assistant with integrated ChatGPT. Meanwhile, Park Assist Pro, lets drivers control parking procedures from their smartphone!
