Activ8 Solar Energies improves operational efficiency and driver performance with Radius

Active8 Solar Energies is one of Ireland’s leading renewable energy specialists, supplying and installing solar panel systems to commercial and residential sites around Ireland, the UK, and Europe. It’s a fleet of 83 light commercial vehicles (LCVs) are used by installers on a daily basis.
With a large fleet covering a vast area, Activ8 needed a smarter, more connected system to manage its vehicles, drivers, and fuel usage effectively.

The Challenges

Activ8 needed to address several challenges:

- • Limited real-time visibility of vehicle locations

- • Inconsistent driver performance tracking

- • Difficulty linking fuel usage to specific vehicles

- • Lack of reliable data to inform decisions and improve efficiency

Activ8 partnered with Radius to implement a complete connected fleet solution – combining the powerful Kinesis Pro software platform, van tracking integrated into our vision-duo forward-facing and driver-facing dash cameras, DCI fuel cards into one seamless system.

The Radius system provides:

· Real-time tracking of Activ8’s fleet for planning deliveries and maximising efficiency

· Forward-facing and driver-facing cameras for safety and guarding against false claims

· Fuel card integration with telematics data to understand and improve security

· Driver performance monitoring, including idling and speeding reports

The video footage that Radius systems is able to provide helps to protect both the drivers and the company in the event of an incident. Deirdre Brady, Fleet Manager of Ireland based Activ8 Solar Energies explained that this footage allows her to see exactly what happened, and disprove any false claims, for example: the driver being on the phone at the time of the incident. Deirdre explains: “In order for me to make changes, I need the data. It provides us with more data for us to make decisions in relation to vehicles on the road, driver performance, and compliance”

The Radius solution links their DCI fuel cards with their vehicles, a key way of driving efficiency for Activ8. It enables detailed reporting on fuel usage and MPG, as well as Geo-Plus alerts if one of their fuel cards is used in a different location to its linked vehicle, reducing the risk of fuel card fraud or misuse. “If the van’s in Cork and the card’s used in Donegal, we’re alerted straight away,” explains Deirdre, “that’s a great highlight for us.”
