Audi outdoes the Q7 with its huge Q9

Audi has revealed the first look inside its upcoming Audi Q9 and it’s clear this isn’t just another large SUV. It’s being positioned as more of a luxury lounge on wheels.

Set to become Audi’s biggest model yet, the Q9 will sit above the Q7 and effectively take over as the brand’s flagship now the A8 saloon has quietly disappeared from the line-up.

For most company car drivers, this probably isn’t a car that’s going to feel especially relatable in terms of size. It’s huge. But the interesting part is what it says about where premium cars are heading.

Audi is focusing heavily on comfort, space, and the in-car experience rather than traditional performance figures. The six-seat version gets individual rear chairs designed to feel more like business-class airline seats, while features like powered doors, a panoramic roof, and a large Bang & Olufsen sound system are clearly aimed at drivers and passengers spending long hours travelling.

It also reflects how many luxury SUVs are now replacing executive saloons entirely. For higher-mileage drivers, chauffeur use, or families regularly covering long motorway journeys, cars like the Q9 are increasingly becoming mobile living spaces rather than simply transport.

Audi hasn’t confirmed full engine details yet, but expect a mix of large petrol and hybrid powertrains when the Q9 is officially revealed in July.
