BMW 7 Series update brings 450 mile range and major interior overhaul

BMW has revealed a heavily updated 7 Series and i7, introducing significant changes to design, technology and electric range ahead of UK arrivals later this year.

The biggest gains are in the electric line-up. The entry i7 50 xDrive delivers up to 452 miles of range, an increase of more than 70 miles, while the 60 xDrive offers similar range with higher performance. Charging speeds rise to 250kW, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in around 28 minutes, with plug and charge functionality simplifying public charging.

Inside, the changes are more substantial. BMW’s new Panoramic Vision system replaces the traditional instrument cluster with a display running along the base of the windscreen, supported by a 17.9 inch central touchscreen and a 14.9 inch passenger display. Rear passengers can also access a 31.3 inch theatre screen, reinforcing the 7 Series’ focus on long distance comfort.

Plug in hybrid versions will follow, offering up to 50 miles of electric only driving, which is enough to cover typical urban journeys without using the combustion engine.

For company car drivers, this remains a high mileage, long distance option, combining strong range with a quieter, more refined driving experience and a high level of onboard technology.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, with UK deliveries expected from September.
