Denza D9 MPV enters UK market - starting from £75,000

BYD's luxury brand, Denza has announced its uber-luxury D9 MPV will be on sale in the UK, priced from £75,000.

The Denza D9 aims to compete with the luxury MPV class consisting of the Mercedes-Benz VLE and Lexus LM. For fleets considering airport taxi vehicles, the D9 may be worth looking at.

Powering the D9 is an electric motor on each axle teamed with a 58.5kWh battery pack. A 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine acts as a range extender to stretch out those extra miles. In total, driving range is a claimed 590-miles.

In addition, the D9 is compatible with BYD's 'flash charging' stations, which - while not rolled out yet in the UK - allows a 10-97% charge in a mere nine-minutes.

Two trim levels are available, starting with the £75,000 Elegance joined by the range-topping £85,000 Ultimate.

The Denza D9 is appointed with business class levels of luxury. Standard features include a panoramic glass roof as well as heated and ventilated front seats with 10-point massage functions. The main 15.6-inch infotainment screen has Google built-in, and there's plenty of wood and leather spanning across the cabin.

On the Ultimate trim, second-row passengers also benefit from 16-point massaging seats as well as individual 12.8-inch entertainment screens. In both trims, the D9 offers between 430 to 570-litres of luggage space, rising to 2,310-litres with the third row seats folded down.

For fleets, the Denza D9 represents the Chinese automotive industry pitching a challenge against established competitors. The price point, luxury, practicality and equipment offered in the D9 is well within line of the likes of Mercedes-Benz and Lexus.
