BYD is preparing to bring its premium brand Denza to Europe in 2026, led by the Z9 GT – a high-performance EV aiming to tackle two of the biggest barriers to fleet electrification: range and charging time.

On paper, the numbers are striking. A tri-motor setup delivers around 950bhp, with 0-62mph in just over three seconds. More relevant for fleets, though, is the battery and charging proposition. The Z9 GT pairs a large battery – over 100kWh – with a claimed range approaching 400 miles, while new ultra-rapid charging tech could add up to 250 miles in around five minutes.

That capability is tied to BYD’s upcoming Flash Charge network, designed to bring megawatt-level charging to market. For high-mileage drivers or executive fleets, that begins to remove the usual compromises around downtime and route planning.

In practical terms, this is still a large, premium GT. There’s space for passengers, luggage or a full set of golf clubs, plus a cabin packed with comfort-focused features – including, unusually, a built-in fridge for keeping drinks cold on longer journeys. It’s not aimed at volume fleets, but makes a striking exec offering.
