EV drivers value convenience over cost at charging stops

A survey of 5500 EV and hybrid drivers across Europe and the US by Gilbarco-Veeder Root, shows convenience is more important than price when choosing where to charge. Forty percent of European BEV drivers use the nearest charger, while 54% will not detour more than 10 minutes. Many are willing to pay 36% extra to avoid delays.

Amenities also matter, with 74% visiting shops or restaurants during charging stops and over half seeking food, drink or toilets on site.

The findings highlight growing demand for reliable, well-equipped charging locations that fit seamlessly into drivers’ journeys.
