Omoda previews new compact SUV ahead of 2026 UK arrival

Omoda has unveiled the Omoda 4, a compact crossover slated for UK launch in the second half of 2026.

Positioned in the B-segment, the model will rival the Ford Puma and Renault 4 E-Tech, and is expected to offer both plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains. While final technical data has yet to be confirmed, Omoda has outlined a new hybrid system featuring a more efficient petrol engine and updated battery pack, set to be introduced across future vehicles.

The reveal comes as parent company Chery announces a major solid-state battery breakthrough, a 600 Wh/kg module capable of enabling EV ranges up to 1,500km. Pilot production will begin in 2026, potentially positioning Omoda to integrate this technology into future electric models.

The newcomer will follow the larger Omoda 7, due in early 2026, as part of the brand’s expanding European line-up. With flexible multi-energy architecture and bold design cues, the Omoda 4 marks another step in the Chinese manufacturer’s rapid UK market growth.
