Polestar expands 4 range with more practical SUV variant

Polestar is broadening the appeal of its best-selling model by introducing a new Polestar 4 SUV, offering a more practical alternative to the existing coupe-inspired version.

Due to arrive in September, the newcomer retains the distinctive styling and electric performance of the Polestar 4 but swaps the coupe's controversial camera-only rear view for a conventional rear window, giving drivers a more familiar driving experience and improving everyday practicality.

The new model will be offered alongside the existing car, which will now be known as the Polestar 4 Coupe.

Powertrain choices remain unchanged, with buyers able to choose between rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive versions. The SUV will offer up to 391 miles of WLTP range, making it well suited to company car drivers covering longer distances.

It also benefits from the latest chassis updates introduced on the Polestar 4 earlier this year, including revised dampers, springs and anti-roll bars, plus recalibrated steering. Polestar says the changes deliver a smoother, more controlled ride without sacrificing the sharp handling that has helped make the model its global bestseller.

For fleets and company car drivers, the addition of an SUV body style gives Polestar a broader appeal. Those who value the Coupe's bold design can still opt for the original, while drivers needing extra luggage space, family practicality or simply preferring a traditional rear window now have another option without compromising on electric range or performance.
