Chinese car manufacturer, Aion has unveiled its new UT electric supermini, which is coming to the UK in October. It's set to rival the Volkswagen ID.3, Cupra Born, and Renault 5, giving fleets a brand new option for a practical electric vehicle.
The Aion UT is expected to be priced from under £30,000 and has a claimed 268-mile driving range (WLTP), as well as a 30-80% charge in 24-minutes when hooked up to an 87kW DC charger.
Specs? It has an electric motor mounted up front with 204bhp on tap, meaning 0-62 takes 7.3 seconds, placing the UT on equal ground to a base-model Cupra Born.
Thinking the Aion UT would suit European buyers? That's because it's designed to do exactly that. In fact, it was designed in Milan and aims to be chic city transport - much like many European rivals such as the aforementioned Renault 5 and Mini Cooper Electric.

Inside, the UT is equipped with plush materials as well as a large 14.6-inch central infotainment screen and an 8.8-inch cockpit display. But it's not the interior that's seemingly designed to tempt buyers away from established brands, it's the aftercare.
Aion's 'Great 8' package - set to come with the UT - consists of an eight-year warranty, an eight-years of servicing, eight-years of roadside assistance, and free MOT cover until it turns eight years old.
For fleets, that represents an attractive proposition if you're considering a Chinese vehicle. It appears that, with the influx of new brands and the uncertainty attached, these manufacturers are coming up with solutions to encourage more uptake. For comparison, VW's standard warranty on the ID.3 is currently three-years or 100,000-miles and an eight-year/100,000-mile cover on the battery.
