Chinese car empire, BYD has exceeded 100,000 new car registrations on UK soil since it entered the market in March 2023.
Of those 100,000 units, a massive 37,995 vehicles were registered in the first half of 2026 alone, representing a seismic shift in the appeal and trust for BYD for fleet and private buyers alike.
The boost in registrations has been led by competitive, good-value models, beginning with the Nissan Qashqai-rivalling BYD Atto 3 followed by full EVs such as the Seal and Sealion 7. More accessible models such as the Dolphin and Dolphin Surf have also expanded the brand’s appeal and customer base.

For fleets, this means there is more choice in the BYD’s line-up alone – along with the expansion of its portfolio, headed by Denza, in the UK.
This sales milestone represents Chinese manufacturers becoming ever more popular with UK fleets and manufacturing products which firmly compete with the European, Korean and Japanese establishments in the respective sectors.
