After unveiling its FLASH Charging technology and Blade Battery 2.0 last week, BYD has confirmed the first vehicle that will bring the system to UK roads.
The technology's debut will coincide with the launch of the DENZA Z9GT, a flagship model from BYD’s premium brand Denza. Final UK specifications are expected in the coming weeks.
The new system is designed to significantly reduce EV charging times. FLASH Charging can deliver up to 1,500kW of power, enabling charging from 10% to 70% in around five minutes, and 10% to 97% in roughly nine minutes under ideal conditions.

BYD has also confirmed that its FLASH charging stations will be rolled out globally, although detailed plans for European infrastructure are yet to be announced.
The potential benefits centre on reduced charging downtime and improved operational efficiency. Faster charging could make EVs easier to integrate into working schedules where vehicles need to return to service quickly. Even in extreme cold, around -30°C, charging from 20% to 97% can take about 12 minutes, a key improvement for fleets operating in winter conditions.
