Motability Operations and Kia partner to bring accessible EV design to UK fleets

Motability Operations has signed a landmark agreement with Kia to accelerate the rollout of affordable, accessible electric mobility in the UK — starting with the PV5 wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV), due to launch in 2026.

The partnership will see the PV5 introduced to the Motability Scheme as a passenger vehicle early next year, followed by locally converted WAVs and, later in 2026, a fully integrated side-entry model designed and built by Kia in Korea. The model will include a 300kg-rated ramp, custom wheelchair restraint system, and third-row tip-up seat for caregivers, aiming to provide greater independence for disabled drivers and passengers.

“This collaboration shows inclusive design becoming reality,” said Andrew Miller, CEO of Motability Operations. “By combining our customer and WAV market insight with Kia’s design expertise, we’re helping ensure accessible mobility through the EV transition.”

Motability Operations currently supports more than 35,000 WAVs across its fleet, working with UK converters on EV-ready designs.
