Volkswagen is set to strengthen its electric vehicle line-up later this year with the launch of the ID Cross, a compact SUV aimed at drivers who want the practicality of a crossover without moving into a larger, more expensive EV.
Expected to start from around £25,000, the ID Cross will sit alongside the petrol-powered T-Cross and compete with the Renault 4, Ford Puma Gen-E and Citroën ë-C3 Aircross.
Built on Volkswagen's MEB+ platform, the SUV offers a generous 475-litre boot and a choice of powertrains delivering between 196 and 270 miles of range. Rapid charging of up to 105kW should also make longer business journeys more convenient.
Inside, Volkswagen has combined a 12.9-inch touchscreen with the return of more physical controls, responding to customer feedback on earlier ID models.
For fleets, the ID Cross broadens Volkswagen's electric offering in one of the UK's most popular vehicle segments. As compact SUVs continue to dominate company car choice, the new model provides another practical electric option for drivers who want higher seating, everyday versatility and lower running costs without stepping up to a larger family SUV.
