BYD has confirmed pricing for its Sealion 7, a mid-size electric SUV set to join its UK line-up in early 2025. Starting from £44,990, it aims to compete with the Tesla Model Y and Volkswagen ID.4.
The Sealion 7 offers two battery options and three configurations to balance range and performance.
The Comfort and Design trims feature an 82.5kWh battery, providing a range of up to 300 miles in the rear-wheel drive (RWD) version and 283 miles for all-wheel drive (AWD). The range-topping Excellence AWD trim comes with a 91.3kWh battery, achieving 312 miles.
The RWD model delivers 317PS, while AWD versions produce an impressive 530PS, accelerating from 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds. All models offer 11kW AC charging and up to 150kW DC fast charging, with the Excellence trim supporting 230kW DC charging. A standard heat pump helps maximise range, particularly in colder conditions.
Styled as part of BYD’s Ocean Series, the Sealion 7 resembles its Dolphin and Seal siblings, featuring a spacious interior with seating for five adults and a 520-litre boot. Inside, there’s a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen and a separate digital instrument cluster.
Driver assistance is handled by BYD’s DiPilot 10 system, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection and 360-degree cameras. Comfort models offer heated seats, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad and V2L capability. Design trims add 20-inch alloy wheels, while Excellence models feature Nappa leather seats and a head-up Display.
